Wombat Wood Firing Workshop - with Peter Dallas Phillips

Location: Wombat the Kiln at Bargo Pottery, NSW

This intimate wood firing workshop combines artistic, scientific and philosophical methods to create delightful firing results for just eight participants.  Filled with practical classroom content, the firing will be led by passionate wood firers Peter Dallas Phillips and Danielle Vibert 

For three days over two weekends, you’ll experience packing, 32 hours of continuous firing and finishing of your fired clay pieces.

Working through day and night in the first weekend in four hour shifts, this intensive event is targeted to newbies of wood firing as well junkie pyromaniacs.

By the end of the workshop Peter will share how to:

• organise & protect pottery, wood, kiln wall and ember bed;
• respond to fuel needs whilst creating surface design;
• analyse the language of smoke for atmosphere change;
• attribute design elements to chemical & physical reactions and
• explore clean-up techniques after unpacking the fired pieces.

With two liner glazes and all firing consumables provided, you can focus on what to bring and prepare for the workshop ahead of time.
