Spend 5 days with award-winning artist and professional teacher Robert Linigen, at Kiln Kulture, St Peters, NSW on the 24 Jan 2024 to 28 Jan 2024.
Using ingredients readily available in Australia, get hands-on practice of developing cone 6 glazes. This all-inclusive program combines glaze theory and technical demonstrations.
By the end of the course Robert will share how to:
- interpret recipes & ceramic jargon to make glazes;
- use glaze testing methods, including line & Currie blends as well triaxials to refine glaze development practice;
- control firing for great predictable or surprise results;
- understand & record results using glaze analysis software, UMF and Stull map;
- explore a range of glaze application techniques and
- assess causes & remedies for common glaze faults.
The workshop includes everything needed - all materials, equipment as well as take away comprehensive learning materials will be supplied. No preparation needed!
Morning tea is provided, with a kitchen for tea and coffee accessible throughout the days.
Just bring along safety gear, lunch and curiosity to experiment. More Info
About Robert
Robert Linigen is a multiple award-winning specialist dedicated to art of ceramics and art of teaching alike. The combination of these traits and his curiosity to learn, he uses a mix of found and bought materials, with delicate flare creating spectacular jaw-dropping glazes from his studio in Leura, NSW.
Over 30 years of teaching as a former Senior Head Teacher for TAFE NSW he encourages all to deepen their individual creativity using glaze materials as well as exploring alternative firing techniques at his sold-out workshops all over Australia.
Robert has intuitive understanding of students need’s and appreciates differences, by elegantly catering his delivery to the individual on the go.
A regular at Gallery Lowe & Lee, Newtown, his work is also exhibited in regional NSW at prestigious institutions like the Gang Gang Gallery, Lithgow. Here he showcases, his never-to-be repeated weed ash glazes grown on his property.
